The Yoga 730's design is a response to the common design flaw in many laptops that can fold backwards into a tablet. Most of these designs are centered around laptop mode usage, and look misaligned when folded into a tablet. Lenovo's vision was to create a device that maintains its form integrity in any mode, thus birthing a true multi-mode device.
What sets the Yoga 730 apart from other designs is its sleek, minimal form. It presents one of the simplest, most pure laptop designs available. With ultra slim display borders around a comparably large screen, it enables users who need more viewing area to stick with the travel friendly 13” footprint. Weighing only 2.7 lbs, the 730 is a joy to hold one-handed in tablet mode. When the Yoga 730 folds into tablet mode, the top edge of the screen lines up perfectly with the edge of the bottom half, creating one cohesive form.
The body of the 730 is crafted from stamped sheet aluminum. After stamping, the aluminum body is sand blasted and anodized. The polished, color-matched logo rests flush with the lid of the laptop inside a CNC-machined recess. This realization technology contributes to the overall aesthetic and functional appeal of the design.
The Yoga 730's design was awarded Platinum in A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award in 2018. This award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. Awarded to the defining aesthetics of an era, they advance the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology, exhibiting transcendent excellence and making the world a better place.
In conclusion, the Yoga 730 by Lenovo Experience Design Group is a testament to the power of design in transforming user experience. Its sleek form, multi-mode functionality, and innovative realization technology make it a standout in the realm of laptop design. It is a design that truly fuses form and function, setting a new standard for laptop computers.
